Hiraeth is a Welsh word for which there is no direct English translation ... It is a mix of longing, yearning, nostalgia, wistfulness, or an earnest desire for the Wales of the past.
While starting this project I was so interested and curious about the outcome. I made my project based on my grandmother ( Joan Robinson) who passed away 2012. My main challenge was talking about her since I haven't really grieved over her death properly. In my first draft I was just trying to share a memory that I couldn't really connect with so I sat down and thought about a time that really stuck with me. That's when I came up with Summer Day with Grand mom. I started to enjoy the outcome of the project because I was using a lot of metaphor and gave great description of my grandmother. I wanted the reader to feel like they were actually present. When I had midterm reflection I got great feedback from my teacher but I knew I had to fix some errors . So I became determined to finish with a great hiraeth project giving understanding to a home I yearn to go back to which it is non-existent.
